Halloween Boxing: Oleksandr Usyk vs Derek Chisora - Newslibre

Derek Chisora Takes on Oleksandr Usyk in Massive Halloween Fight

After months of waiting for a big box match, today, the world will come to stand still as Usyk faces off against British fighter Derek Chisora.

Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk has not lost any single match in his professional career winning all 17 of his fights with 13 of those coming in as knockouts.

Derek Chisora though, will be entering this game hoping to improve on his record where he has currently been able 32 fights with 23 of those winning on knockouts but unlike Usyk, Chisora has lost 9 fights, something he won’t want to increase in today’s match.

The Ukrainian fighter is regarded as one of the most intelligent boxers the game has seen in the recent past in that even World Heavy champion Anthony Joshua is eyeing for a match up against him.

But Usyk will be coming up against a fighter known for taking the game to his opponents and always looking for their weaknesses. Tonight promises to be a game of both worlds.

But there is a glimmer of hope for Derek as this is going to be Usyk’s first ever heavy weight boxing match and considering the experience that Derek has, he could use that to his advantage to win the game.

Ukraine’s undefeated Usyk has amassed an Olympic gold medal, the World Boxing Super Series and the undisputed cruiserweight championship and Chisora believes that none of the accolades mean anything and moreso if Usyk didn’t win them in the heavy weight division.

To back up Chisora’s claims, only two boxers have gone on to win after winning such accolades outside the heavy weight and that is David Haye who also happens to be his manager. Could Haye have passed on some notes to Derek on how to overcome Usyk? We will all have to just find out later today.

The Ukrainian boxer doesn’t seem to be phased by any of Chisora’s antics and promises to take the game to him and make him hurt.

“Every man has the same chin,” Usyk said in defence of his punch-power. “You cannot work it out somehow in the gym. The shot should not be really hard to make a man fall down.”

He will give away nearly three stone in weight to Chisora but maintains: “If the king of animals would be considered according to the size, then it would be elephant, not the lion.”

The British fighter hasn’t held back his words either, “I’m going to bring him down to the trenches,” Chisora said about Usyk. “Yes, I’m going to eat some leather, but I can guarantee you, when I land my leather, he would know.

“I’m prepared to eat leather, 100 per cent. Is he prepared to eat my leather as well? I don’t think so. I’m ready to eat all he’s got.”
