Litecoin Vs Bitcoin: The Battle of Digital Currencies

Litecoin Vs Bitcoin: The Battle of Digital Currencies

Business
With digital currency Bitcoin taking the spotlight in 2017, it’s hard to remember the other cryptocurrencies that have been growing in its shadow. An increasingly-prominent example: Litecoin. The fourth largest digital currency by market capitalization has gone positively vertical this year, with Litecoin prices breaching $320 for the first time Tuesday. Since the start of 2017, Litecoin has risen 7,291% against bitcoin’s 1,731%. So why the rise? There doesn’t seem to be a single event—though the recent surge in interest surrounding cryptocurrencies may have pushed some investors into becoming more adventurous. Some investors may also think the price of bitcoin is overdone—and are seeking other investment opportunities. Meanwhile, Litecoin only became somewhat easier to purchase earlier t

Intel and AMD form Partnership

Business, Science & Tech, What's Hot
One of the world's biggest chip maker Intel has formed a partnership with rivals Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to produce a computer chip that relies on both the Intel processor and an AMD graphics unit. If this isn't one of the biggest surprises this year then I don't know what is. Some see this partnership as a strategy to compete against their rival Nvidia which also manufactures graphics processing units. The new awaited chip by Intel and AMD is meant to be for light weight, thin and portable laptop designs but still aiming at gamers that desire powerful GPUS for an extensive gaming experience. This will mark a new beginning for Intel’s eighth-generation Intel Core line and AMD as it is the first partnership between the two chip giants. Read more: Apple and Samsung Are Gearing u

Apple’s iPhone 8 Performing Poorly In Sales

Business, Science & Tech
A new client note from KeyBanc Capital Markets claims the iPhone 7 is selling more units than the iPhone 8 after surveying wireless carrier stores, according to a Reuters report. The KeyBanc analyst said that a "meaningful portion" of customers were choosing the less expensive iPhone 7 instead of the iPhone 8. If true, the note calls into question Apple's decision to release two new phones at the same time. The customers in the report cited a "lack of significant enhancements" to the iPhone 8 as the reason they chose to purchase the iPhone 7 instead. There's also the price. The iPhone 7 now starts at $549, and the iPhone 8 starts at $699 — about $150 difference. The two phones certainly look alike, since the iPhone 8 sports the same basic design profile, which has been around since rele

Trump Pardons Joe Arpaio, a former Arizona Sheriff

Trump Pardons Joe Arpaio, a former Arizona Sheriff

Business, Politics
President Trump on Friday pardoned former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio — a move that keeps one of his staunchest political allies out of jail and will likely cheer his conservative base, which supports both men’s hard-line views on illegal immigration. The unusual pardon — coming less than a month after Arpaio was convicted, and before his planned October sentencing — will further anger the president’s critics and is likely to worsen the president’s already tense relationship with the judicial branch, which he has repeatedly criticized. A pardon is perhaps the only way to make Arpaio — a longtime county sheriff who gained national fame and notoriety for his aggressive pursuit of undocumented immigrants — a more polarizing figure than he already is.
