Charles Lukwago Returns to KCCA FC for 2 Years

The prodigal son is home. Former KCCA FC captain and celebrated goalkeeper Charles Lukwago has sealed a sensational return to the Lugogo-based side, signing a two-year contract after completing his stint with South African side Venda FC.

Lukwago, who first joined KCCA in 2016, built a reputation as one of the finest shot-stoppers in Ugandan football. His commanding presence, leadership qualities, and consistency helped the Kasasiro Boys to two Uganda Premier League titles (2017, 2019), two Uganda Cups (2017, 2018), and a CECAFA Kagame Cup (2019), cementing his status as a club legend.

“KCCA is a club that holds a special place in my heart, and I am ready to give my all to help the team achieve its objectives. I return with more experience and a better understanding of the game. We have a mix of youth and experience in the group, and hopefully we can use that well to achieve the main team objectives.”

Head coach Brian Ssenyondo was equally delighted, praising Lukwago’s impact both on and off the pitch:

“Charles is a leader and a proven winner. His return brings experience and a level of quality to the team. His presence will strengthen our goalkeeping department and lift the entire squad, both on and off the field.”

Lukwago’s comeback adds depth to KCCA’s goalkeeping unit, where he will compete with Mutwalibi Mugolofa, Anthony Emojong, and Humphrey Oyirwoth. His signing also marks the seventh major addition in the current transfer window, alongside Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Herbert Achayi, Lazaro Muhindo, Enock Walusimbi, Rogers Mugisha, and Ssali Alpha Thierry.

Speaking after his unveiling, a visibly motivated Lukwago said:

The timing of Lukwago’s return couldn’t be more crucial. KCCA is looking to bounce back strongly in the domestic league and continental competitions, with fans hopeful that their former skipper’s presence will inspire stability at the back and restore the club’s winning mentality.

As the club embarks on a new campaign, one thing is certain: Lukwago’s return is more than just a signing; it’s a reunion of loyalty, unfinished business, and a renewed quest for glory.
