MTN Uganda Introduces Home Fibre Speeds Starting at 10mbps

As the competition for home internet and speeds goes up, MTN Uganda has joined the race as they enter with their new product MTN Home Fibre.

MTN says that this is a service that will be connected to customer’s homes. The product comes in two forms and they are packaged according to speeds and not bundles.

The Telecommunications giant says that “It provides a reliable high-speed internet connection with no cap on data volume to meet your home entertainment, education, surveillance and home office needs.”

The company says that in order for one to get the installation, they have to ensure that they are in the actual location where the service is to be installed.

The installation fees for the Home Fibre internet will be competitive for many of the customers as they will only be required to pay UGX 100,000 to have the entire system installed in their homes.

The Standard package of the home fibre will be at UGX 179,000 which comes with 10mbps speed per month while the Premium package will be sold at UGX 279,000 per month ensuring that the customer gets internet speeds of 40mbps.

How Will Payments for MTN Uganda Home Internet be Paid?

MTN Uganda, which is considered among the most widespread telecoms in Uganda, could give stiff competition to all the players in the market currently.

Companies like Roke Telecom, Liquid Telecom, Simba, Zuku among others have been battling it out for home internet services.

However, Zuku has been the only one providing fibre internet and also unlimited internet while focusing on speeds rather than bundles. The expectation is that Zuku and MTN will have to battle it among themselves. Zuku is already at a disadvantage considering that they are not yet even covering the whole of Kampala.
