Real Madrid on the Verge of Signing Neymar

Neymar has been a subject of transfer speculation across the big teams in Europe after he came out to state that he is no longer interested in playing at Paris Saint Germain.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have been the two sides that have in conversation to sign the Brazilian forward. With the transfer window remaining with just 9 days to close, the two giants will have to be serious if they are to secure the signing of the Brazilian.

Real Madrid is officially making their move for Brazilian superstar Neymar after a delegation of representatives travelled to Paris for negotiations.

Madrid will look to secure a sensational late deal for the 27-year-old, who has made it clear to Paris Saint Germain he wishes to leave Ligue 1.

The news will come as a huge blow to Barcelona, who have expressed a strong desire to re-sign their former golden boy but are struggling with financing a deal.

Madrid is said to be increasingly optimistic of tying up a deal for the Brazilian, as report Spanish publication Marca, and hope to leave Paris with a transfer concluded.

The La Liga giants are understood to have a much healthier financial position than bitter rivals Barca and would be able to accommodate the arrival of Neymar onto their wage bill.

Reigning French champions PSG are now willing to sell the forward after his dismissive attitude about staying in Paris but will demand closer to €250million (£228m) for their prized asset before sanctioning a sale.

Los Blancos have gone about rebuilding their squad this summer following the return of Zinedine Zidane, with Eden Hazard having already arrived at the Bernabeu.

Madrid remains linked with Paul Pogba, but it now appears all focus has fallen on to Neymar as the European transfer window edges closer to shutdown.

Barcelona has been frantically trying in recent weeks to patch together a suitable deal for Neymar, though have so far seen their ideas and advances knocked back. The Catalans had proposed a swap for Coutinho, Rakitic and Dembele to get the Brazilian but PSG didn’t want any of that.

As reported by Sportsmail, PSG rejected Barca’s first offer to bring Neymar back to Catalonia and have remained firm on their stance.

Due to financial restrictions surrounding any potential return to Spain for Neymar, it was reported that Barcelona made a loan offer with ‘an option to buy for €150million (£137m) next summer’.

The Catalan side has already loaned out record signing Philippe Coutinho to Bayern Munich to lighten the wage bill but remains unable to co-operate with PSG’s demands.

Neymar became the most expensive player in football history after PSG activated his release clause in 2017, spending just shy of £200million in doing so.

It was reported earlier today that PSG had refused Real Madrid’s offer of Bale, Rodriguez and Navas with a cash plus of 100M pounds to bring Neymar to Santiago Bernabeu.
