Serie A Match-day 27 Preview: Atalanta vs Lazio

At 21:45hours CET, all Calcio eyes and attention will be at Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo as League top scorers Atalanta (74 goals) host the second most scoring side Lazio (60 goals).

Fans and all viewers are filled with nostalgia from the reverse fixture last year which ended 3-3. Atalanta (the visitors then) scored 3 in the first half and Lazio came from down in the second half to force a draw.

Not only are both the League’s highest scorers but also two of the League’s most inform teams. Lazio has only lost 4 League points in 2020 during draws against city rivals Roma, and the 2019/20 season surprise package Verona.

Lazio boasts with a WWWDWDWWWW (eight wins and two draws) run making it a high performing team for 2020 season. On the other hand, Atalanta has also thrown away only 7 points from 2 draws against Internazionale (Inter Milan), Genoa, and a shock loss to SPAL (Società Polisportiva Ars et Labor) in a WDLWDWWWW run.

Fresh from a 4-1 win against Sassuolo, Atalanta will continue without players Ilicic and Czyborra who did not train with the rest of the squad but rather alone. The Bergamasca will also be without suspended Mario Pasalic.

It’s going to be an interesting game when Atalanta goes against tough Lazio in the Italian Seria A match-day 27

As their tactics have been throughout the season, La Dea will be going out to outscore their opponents of the day. Central forward Duvan Zapata will have to be on top of his game by using his well-built physique to cause problems to the Lazio defence.

Captain Alejandro Gomez’s creative prowess will also be a big difference if Atalanta is to collect maximum points and continue holding down Calcio’s last Champions League spot for 2020/21.

Lazio will be making their first return to a football pitch in 3 months since the Coronavirus pandemic induced break. Lying 4 points below champions and leaders Juventus, the Biancocelesti cannot afford to lose any points.

The Roman side is confident coming into this fixture since they won all four of their past visits at the Gewiss Stadium. Lazio will be without Senad Lulic, Lucas Leiva, Felipe Luiz, Jordan Lukaku, and Marusic through injury. Simone Inzaghi’s men will look up to captain Ciro Immobile to power them over Atalanta in Game Week 27’s biggest tie.
