Arsene Wenger To Leave Arsenal

Arsenal fans around the world have been treated to the best lunch menu ever after their manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that he was going to step down at the end of the season.

After managing Arsenal for over 22 years, the Frenchman has conceded that it is about time that he stepped down from the club that he holds dear to him. He started managing the club in 1996, coming in as a no body to most of the British fans.

The End of an Era

Wenger has been at the helm of Arsenal winning ten major trophies for the North London club.

Arsene Wenger is commended for revolutionizing the English game when he made sure that his team played and won by playing the beautiful style. He was a serious advocate for proper diet for most of his players and discipline.

Some of the players that Wenger found at the club were used to partying, drinking and smoking but Wenger came in and demanded that all these habits must be stopped if players were to play under him.

For the club owners, Wenger was the most important person in the club’s history as he saw their valuation increase and in 2007 Arsenal moved to their new home, the Emirates stadium.

Despite all the good work that the talismatic manager did, his success and achievement have been coming to question after having dismal performances over the last 4 years.

The biggest issues came in when Wenger allowed to sale Robin Van Persie to arch rivals Manchester United who would later go on to win a premier league title with the Red Devils.

This season, as Arsenal were struggling to get into the top 4 (which they won’t be doing this season by the way) he sold Chilean superstar Alexis Sanchez to a team being managed by Jose Mourinho, Manchester United.

With Arsenal looking set to finish in their worst ever position in over 30 years, the fans started to abandon games, Arsenal not having won a single away game in 2018 became a huge concern for the club. The club has fallen below the pecking order with the rise of the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham among others.

With calls for him to resign with each and every waking day and week, the pressure had piled upon him to step down and today he came out to resign from the club.

Here reads his statement to the fans of the club;

After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season.

I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years. I managed the club with full commitment and integrity.

I want to thank the staff, the players, the Directors and the fans who make this club so special. I urge our fans to stand behind the team to finish on a high. To all the Arsenal lovers take care of the values of the club.

Former Bayern, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is said to be in the running to replace Arsene Wenger at the end of the season. Other names like Mikel Arteta, Thiery Henry, Joachim Jadim, Luiz Enrique, Brendan Rogers have been thrown in the books.

For now, the worry for the next manager will not be in the minds of many Arsenal fans, what they will be interested in is celebrating the departure of Wenger.
