The Uganda Premier League (UPL) clubs will get to share a total of Shs 526 million among themselves, this is according to the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA).
The Executive Committee has on Monday, August 17th, 2020 resolved to appropriate part of the FIFA COVID19 Relief fund to the top division clubs and the UPL secretariat among others.
“The FUFA Executive Committee which sat Monday 17th August 2020 has approved the appropriation of the FIFA COVID – 19 Relief Grant of USD 500,000 received from FIFA. The decision has been made in consideration of the FIFA COVID-19 Relief Plan Regulations,” the statement said.
Looking at the breakdown that was issued by the Federation of Uganda Football Association, 16 clubs that play their football in the Uganda Premier League will have to share Shs 526 Million.
How will the Money be Distributed to UPL Teams?
The UPL teams will be awarded 12.9 million for the financial loss that they incurred this past season, each will also get 15 Million for being members of FUFA, and each of the clubs will be entitled 5 million as FUFA support, which brings the total to Shs 32.9 million per club.

While teams in the FUFA Big League will each receive up to UG SHS 15 million as part of the relief support, it will be up to them to use the money as the administrations deem fit.
Regional football was also given an allocation for funds where each region will be getting UG SHS 15 million for being members of FUFA and SHS 5 million as FUFA support.
Different footballing sections also got awarded money by the football governing money in Uganda as per the letter that was released earlier today by the federation.
FUFA state that they will have another meeting that will be discussing how the funds for women’s football will be apportioned seeing as FIFA sent a separate grant for the development of women’s football in each country.
