SC Villa Signs Highly Rated Youngster, Kenneth Semakula for 3 Years

Sports Club Villa matches the buyout clause of U-20 International, Kenneth Semakula in order to lure him from Jinja based outfit BUL F.C to join the Villa Park side.

The 6 feet tall 18-year-old centre half has been contracted at BUL F.C since the beginning of last season. He was part of the Uganda Kobs side that went all the way to the finals of the U-20 AFCON only to fall to Ghana.

Having discovered how much the buyout clause of the player, Villa moved swiftly to beat other suitors to capture the signature of the highly-rated self nicknamed Ramos defender.  Semakula will strengthen SC Villa’s defence and also bring modern attributes of a defender into the Villa backline.

The youngster has been with Bul FC through the 2020 season and has been impressive and helped the club to achieve some of its best performances in the 2020/21 season. The intelligent player was born to Mr Charles Lwanga and Mrs Aidah Nanyonga in Tororo town, in the Eastern part of the country.

The Uganda Hippos defender is among the teenagers that are highly rated in the Uganda Premier League and football circle due to his outstanding performance on the pitch. Semakula was initially a midfielder till of late at Jinja SSS, when he was transformed to a central defender.

What does Kenneth Semakula bring to SC Villa?

Before, he was nicknamed ‘ Xavi’ after Spanish star Xavier Hernandez Creus when he was still in the academy because of their familiarity with the playing style.
National team assistant coach Livingston Mbabazi has been all praise for the young defender stating that, “If Semakula is handled well, given the best training and facilities, he will go places. I see a lot of potential in him, he is an intelligent and exceptional player Uganda is gifted with,”
Semakula will now have an opportunity to be part of the rebuild that is happening at Villa Park and playing time might not be much of an issue seeing as SC Villa has recently let go of some of their main players and in particular, the defensive department.
