It was a 55th meeting between the two tennis giants, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Prior to this game, Djokovic had won 28 of the 54 encounters leaving Nadal with 26 wins.
Djokovic dominated Nadal right from the beginning with the World No. 1 clearly struggling against the World No. 2 in yet another game on hard court.
Team Serbia had a big crowd cheering the team on and at a moment, the 33-year-old Spanish opponent Nadal was left frustrated and complaining about the crowd. Clearly nothing was going well for the World No. 1 on the day.

Djokovic won the game 6-2, 7-6(7-4) which meant that he had leveled up the tie for Serbia since teammate Dusan Lajovic had lost 7-5, 6-1 to Spaniard Bautista Agut.
The 32-year-old World No. 2 went on and partnered with countryman, Viktor Troicki to a 6-3 6-4 doubles win over the Spanish duo of Pablo Carreno Busta and Feliciano Lopez hence sealing the ATP Cup triumph.
During the trophy awarding ceremony, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal announced that ATP Players had donated $500,000 (UGX 1,834,989,500) toward the fight against the recent bush fires in Australia.
