Uganda Cricket Association Entrusts Michael Nuwagaba with new Term

On a weekend of elections, Michael Nuwagaba returns as Chairman, Jackson Kavuma elected Hon Secretary as the new Board takes shape in Uganda Cricket at Kati Kati

Uganda Cricket has kept faith with Michael Nuwagaba as he returns for another two years to run the affairs at Uganda Cricket Association. Nuwagaba who has been chairman for the last two years will get another two-year term to steer cricket on a path of attaining ODI cricket.

Last year, the cricket association under Nuwagaba enjoyed some memorable performances and he will be hoping that the next two years will see Uganda attain ODI Cricket and even play more successful tournaments across the continent.

In the other elective position, Jackson Kavuma the ACC delegate was elected unopposed to replace Alvin Bagaya Mboijana. Kavuma has served in the same place in the past and is not a stranger to how UCA operates and works. His combination with Michael Nuwagaba will be tasked with ensuring that Uganda Cricket remains a model organization, especially in terms of governance.

“We shall maintain the same speed on some of these things like focusing on the national teams as we push for higher rankings and getting close to ODI status,” said Nuwagaba after getting reappointed.

“The other issue is the one regarding facilities, we have been pushing for land and it’s something we shall maintain, we have collected more funds, but we want to improve our pathways to get more partners.” He added

Rita Tinka was also unopposed for the women’s representative position and as such retains her position. Women’s cricket has grown in leaps and bounds and now the Pearls have players signed contracts with salaries.
