Masaza Football tournament frequently known as Masaza Cup is a non-Association football tournament organised by Buganda Kingdom. It is organised in a Cup format with 18 teams representing the respective counties of the Kingdom.
Teams are seeded in groups of four and 5 teams from which two teams from each group qualify to the next round until we get the final two.
This year’s bragging rights will be vied for by Busiro and Bulemeezi. Busiro made it to its first ever final after eliminating Buddu whom they beat home and away in the semifinals. On the other hand, 2012 Champions Bulemezi will be gracing the Tournament’s final for the 3rd time after eliminating Kyaggwe.
Earlier today, in a press conference held at Bulange in Mengo, the Kingdom’s Minister for Youth, Sports and Recreation, Owekitibwa Henry Ssekabembe Kiberu along with the entire Organizing Committee chaired by Hajji Sejjengo Sulaiman officially announced and confirmed that the finals will be held on 26 October, 2019 at Mandela National Stadium (Namboole).
The finals are to be preceded by the 3rd Place Playoff between Kyaggwe and Buddu who lost at the previous semifinals with the match expected to kick off at 11am and the finals at 3pm.
Tickets to access the stadium will go for shs10,000 Ordinary, shs20,000 VIP and VVIP shs100,000. The Champions will be awarded a Trophy, 12 million shillings and medals while the Runners-up will bag 9 million shillings and medals.
Third and fourth place holders will be awarded 7 and 5 million shillings respectively plus other prizes courtesy of the tournament sponsors, Airtel Uganda.
The Finals are to be graced by His Royal Highness Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II just like he did with the opening fixture.
