Namuwongo Blazers Unveil New Players, Sponsors and Jersey ahead of NBL Season

The new money bags of the Uganda National Basketball League (NBL) Namuwongo Blazers today unveiled new players who they expect to lead them to challenge for the title, new sponsors and a whole new kit.

The Blazers who before COVID-19 had brought about the suspension of sports in Uganda had bought some of the best players in the league have today unveiled the new faces who will be challenging defending champions the City Oilers for the national league title.

One of the recruits is former UCU Canons player Dikong who finished runners up after losing to the City Oilers in the 2019 finals despite putting on a very spirited fight.

David Dikong, who is brilliant both in defence and offence will join the likes of Syrus Kiviiri who joins from the Betway, Chris Omanye from the Kyambogo Pemba Warriors, Francis Azolibe from defending champions City Oilers and finally Daniel Juuko joins from the JKL Dolphins. They team up with players like Monoja, Sebatindira, and Paul Odong the team captain.

Stephen Nyeko Escodata will be the coach tasked with the challenge of having to deliver the holy grail to Namuwongo and overthrow the 7-time reigning champions City Oilers.

According to Hajji Zinda Farouk, the new partners are a very big welcome to the club and will help them achieve their goals.

“We are grateful to have Motorola and Radio Trans through Samanga Solutions on board. These are partners that have trusted and believed in our organization’s vision in our maiden season in the NBL” He said.

“This partnership presents us with a much-needed boost in our bid to build an exciting team that will give basketball and sports lovers the ultimate satisfaction after losing out on a year without sports” Continued Farouk

When asked about Nam Blazers playing without fans?

“We are going to miss the additional excitement and atmosphere that the fans bring to the game but hopefully they will join us as the season progresses”
