Streetlights Uganda alongside People Concern Children’s Project presented an exciting and impactful project showcase called Ntunga which saw a good number of women graduate on a Saturday afternoon last week on the 7th October. The event was filled with color and fun as it saw 7 out of the 15 women that joined the project graduate after successfully completing the program. The Ntunga Project was started as a pilot program, 6 months back in Kibuli – Kasasizi Zone with 15 women joining the program. The initiative focused mostly on empowering and reskilling women in poverty stricken areas by teaching them sewing skills to improve on their livelihoods. According to WABetaInfo which usually informs about upcoming WhatsApp features, the messaging app has been testing this feature for some time now and might make it available for everyone soon. Whatsapp has enabled their server to support the feature and may finally remotely enable the “delete for everyone” feature soon. Hackers on Thursday attacked a major American credit reporting agency that is entrusted to safeguard personal financial information affecting nearly half of the US population. Reports indicate that the hackers looted the system stealing information belonging to about 143 million Americans. Equifax said that a hack it learned about on July 29 had the potential to affect 143 million US customers, and involved some data for British and Canadian residents. According to Equifax, the hackers obtained names, social security numbers, birth dates, addresses and driver license numbers from the database. More than 20 people have been hospitalised to several health units in Buwama Sub-county after a fight over a disputed piece of land. Cabinet Revises Travel Guidelines for Government Officials

Government officials below the rank of Permanent Secretary who seek to travel abroad will be authorised by their line ministers not the Prime Minister. During a Friday meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda, Cabinet resolved that the new arrangement would lessen the premier’s work burden. “The change of practice is premised on the need to reduce the work load of the Prime Minister…and to enable ministers take full charge of the affairs of their ministries as political heads,” a statement issued by Cabinet spokesperson, Mr Frank Tumwebaze. The measure, Mr Tumwebaze said in the statement, is also intended to reduce the cost of travel abroad through rationalisation of foreign trips at any given time.
