Ever since Ferrari announced that Sebastian Vettel will be leaving the Italian side, speculation of where he will be driving next or if he is going to retire has been circulating and today, he agreed a deal that will see him joining Aston Martin starting next season.
Sebastian Vettel a 4 time World Champion will now have an opportunity to continue driving in F1 for long seeing as his contract is not for 1 year.
Racing Point say the 33-year-old’s deal, which is for ‘2021 and beyond’, “is a clear statement of the team’s ambition to establish itself as one of the most competitive names in the sport.”
“I am pleased to finally share this exciting news about my future,” said the German. “I’m extremely proud to say that I will become an Aston Martin driver in 2021. It’s a new adventure for me with a truly legendary car company. I have been impressed with the results the team has achieved this year and I believe the future looks even brighter.
“The energy and commitment of Lawrence [Stroll] to the sport is inspiring and I believe we can build something very special together. I still have so much love for Formula 1 and my only motivation is to race at the front of the grid. To do so with Aston Martin will be a huge privilege.”

On Wednesday, Sergio Perez announced that he will be leaving Racing Point which prompted many questions of where he would be going next and who would be replacing him.
The announcement by Aston Martin and Sebastian Vettel couldn’t have come at a better time to sting Ferrari as they will be celebrating their 1000 races this weekend in Mugello.
Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer couldn’t hold back on his excitement and joy of having the 4 time world champion joining his team come next season.
“Everybody at Silverstone is hugely excited by this news,” said Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer. “Sebastian is a proven champion and brings a winning mentality that matches our own ambitions for the future as Aston Martin F1 Team.
“On a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, Sebastian is one of the best in the world, and I can’t think of a better driver to help take us into this new era. He will play a significant role in taking this team to the next level.”
Analysis of the Sebastian Vettel Move to Aston Martin
First and foremost, the timing of the announcement, couldn’t have been any better. Considering how Ferrari announced his departure without even his own knowledge, this was a payback served ice cold.
Away from that, this is a brilliant move because at the moment, Racing Point is the third best team on the grid and can only get better next season before the new regulations come into play.
With Lance Stroll still getting his way around the laces of F1, Aston Martin definitely needed someone who has experience and knowledge of what it means to succeed and with such a car, he would be able to give them that mileage as they come up against Mclaren, Red Bull and Mercedes.
For Sebastian, this is an opportunity to prove all his doubters wrong in the sport that he has won 4 times before. He has what it takes to continue competing at the top level and 2021 might just be the year he brings that out again.
Alfa Romeo, Haas and Alpha Turi are the only teams that are yet to announce their drivers for the 2021 campaign while Lewis Hamilton is yet to agree to a new deal by Mercedes.
