On 11th of March 2023 at Hotel Africana in Kampala, delegates of the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) voted back into office Haji Nasser Sserunjoji for a second term in office as the president of the association.
Mr. Nasser will lead the federation for another 4 years as stated by the FUBA constitution. He was being challenged by Mr. Gordon Gumisiriza a businessman who has been part of the basketball fraternity, especially as a manager in the lower division.
Mr. Nasser defeated his opponent; Gordon, having won the election by 32 votes to Gordon’s 16. It was expected that this would be a tough election for Haji Nasser, but he managed to win quite easily. According to the president-elect, they have land identified on Entebbe Road which once acquired will be developed to have an indoor arena and outside open courts.
For many of the fans, the growth of the league and the talent development pool should be areas of focus as there is more to be desired now. Recently, President Nasser announced that the Women’s National Basketball League will be expanded to 12 teams.
Hudson Ssegamwenge (Vice President of Administration), Aggrey Mbonye (Vice President of Finance), and Arnold Katabi (Vice President of Marketing) retained their offices unopposed.

When will the new FUBA Basketball League Resume?
Initially, the 2023 NBL season was meant to begin on the 10th of March 2023, however, due to the expected renovations at the Lugogo Indoor arena, the federation decided it best to reschedule the start of the new season.
According to President Nasser after the elections, the new season fixtures will be released on Monday and consequently the dates for when the new season will resume.
