Messi, £1.5M Away from Staying at Barcelona

Football star Lionel Messi has held Barcelona at ransom for the last week demanding that the club lets him leave to his destination of desire which is Manchester City.

It all looked like a deal would be forced for the Argentine to leave the club from Catalunya but now with Barcelona placing a contract of £1.5M on the table for the 6 time Ballon Dór winner to remain at the club, it seems Messi will be staying after all.

As of yesterday, reports suggested that the Manchester City groups that includes clubs from Australia, New York City had made a joint bid of up to £678M for the forward and all that was remaining was for Barcelona to accept and the player leaves.

However, as the Camp Nou giants had hinted from the onset, they were not willing to let go of their biggest prized asset leave just yet.

Calls from La Liga came in reiterating that Messi should not leave the Spanish top division league as this could hinder on their market value and mostly broadcasting rights.

Whether Messi will put pen to paper on the new deal that has been tabled by Barcelona is an entirely different story and we all have to wait on the announcement that he will be making soon. But if what his father who also doubles as his agent said is anything to by, then he could be slated to stay at Camp Nou for yet another season.

Jorge Messi stated that the meeting that he had held with the Barcelona hierarchy went “well” and that there is a chance that everyone will remain within the surroundings that they are familiar with.

With Barcelona tabling a £1.5M per week for the forward, majority expect that he will sign the new deal that will see him become the highest paid football player in the world.
