Inter Milan director Beppe Marotta insists no deal is currently in place to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham despite several media houses linking his club with the move for want away star.
The Serie A chief told Sky Sport Italia: ‘Inter are often linked with players of great quality, and that is flattering, but we have not had any contact with Tottenham.”
‘Eriksen is a talented player, I don’t need to tell you that, and he will be a free agent in June 2020.
‘I think many clubs are interested, he is an interesting player, but I will not stand here and tell you that we are in negotiations with his club or agent.’
Inter have seemingly therefore handed Manchester United a boost in their pursuit of Christian Eriksen by prioritizing a move for Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to reports in Italy.
Will Eriksen Be able to make his most desired move out of Whitehart Lane this January?
Eriksen has indicated from the very start of the season that he wants to leave the North London club to look for greener pastures and an opportunity to win silverware.
Recent reports suggested that the San Siro outfit were ready to make a £20million move for the Tottenham playmaker in the January window, beating the likes of United, Juventus and PSG to the punch.
However, according to Corriere della Sera via Sports Witness, Inter boss Antonio Conte has told club officials to focus their attentions on a move for Vidal instead.
Christian Erisken has been linked with some of the biggest clubs across Europe since August, Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid among others but there is no concrete evidence of which team wants to sign him.
The report claims that Conte wants someone with Serie A experience and a player who can walk into his Inter side immediately without needing lots of time to settle in.
Barcelona’s Chilean midfielder fits that mold considering he’s won the Italian title on four different occasions with Juventus.
This would move Eriksen down on Conte’s transfer wishlist considering he has no experience of playing in Italy’s top flight.
Inter Milan moved top of the table yesterday after a fantastic performance from Romelu Lukaku who scored twice to give the side 3 points against Napoli in the Italian Series A.
