Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Pablo Mari from Flamengo after a breakthrough in talks on Tuesday night. The Spanish international will be coming back to London to put pen to paper as Fernandez joins United.
The deal for the 26-year-old Spaniard will be confirmed on Wednesday with Mari arriving on an initial loan for an improved fee of around £4million and the move will be made permanent in the summer with further add-ons.
Flamengo gave him permission to travel back to London and announced late on Tuesday night that they had confirmed the signing of Athletico Paranaense defender Leo Pereira for £5.9m as his replacement.
Will Pablo Mari and Bruno Fernandez spice up the English Premier League?
Bruno Fernandez joins Manchester United
Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes was all smiles as he prepared to fly to Manchester ahead of a medical at Old Trafford.
Sportsmail revealed that Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon had agreed a deal on Tuesday which could be worth almost £68million after an initial fee of £46.6m.
Fernandes looked to be on his way to England imminently with his friend Carolina Deslandes posting a photo of the pair in a lift with an airplane emoji onto her Instagram story on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils will pay an initial fee of £46.6m and the deal includes add-ons of £8.5m based on Fernandes’ appearances for United and the club qualifying for the Champions League.
United could also pay Sporting up to £12.7m more depending on the player hitting less attainable targets. Fernandes is expected to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford but he has yet to agree personal terms.
Tottenham sign Dutch Midfielder Steven Bergwijn
Tottenham have completed the signing of winger Steven Bergwijn from PSV Eindhoven in a deal worth £27m.
The 22-year-old has put pen to paper with Tottenham on a deal that runs until 2025 in a signing that will reinforce the attacking options at Jose Mourinho’s disposal.
Bergwijn, who has nine caps for Holland, could face a baptism of fire on his Spurs debut, with Manchester City their opponents this weekend. The two sides meet in Sunday’s late kick-off in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
