Microsoft Plans to End Support for Windows 10 by 2025

As Microsoft continues to promote and encourage users to shift to Windows 11, reports suggest that the company wants to end Windows 10 support by 2025 which is a polite way of saying they will force it down your throats if they have to.

Despite having millions of users still using Windows 10 given its stability and familiarity, Microsoft is coming up with all kinds of tricks and annoying ways to force us into shifting to Windows 11 with their crappy, intrusive and endless ads and now the company is subtly telling users it will soon stop supporting the operating system.

Windows 10 still has a strong market share of about 68% as of November 2023 according to Statista making it the most popular Windows desktop operating system with only 26.6% of computers now running Windows 11.

However, Microsoft is motivating users to upgrade to the newer Windows 11 and have gone as far as to use their annoying pop-up ads on Windows 10 telling users to upgrade. But here is the shocker, the tech giant has created a new landing page which subtly tells users that the end of Windows 10 is near, and they should upgrade.

According to the landing page, Microsoft announced that support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025, after which, users will no longer receive security updates or technical support though the company reassures users that their PCs will continue to function as usual.

Support for Windows 10 Coming Soon

The landing page showcases different sections talking about Windows 11 and how to upgrade to the latest OS easily. The page also explores the features of the new Windows OS and how upgrading offers better security, improved performance, and a more modern interface.

There are more sections on the landing page for comparison between Windows 10 & 11, and a section for buying laptops with Windows 11. Moreover, at the end, there is also a section for frequently asked questions. This includes many important questions for users planning to switch to Windows 11.

Why are many users still using Windows 10?

There are several reasons why so many users are still using Windows 10 and these are some of them:

  • Users still prefer Windows 10 due to its familiarity
  • Some don’t like the new Windows 11 and many reports have surfaced over its reliability issues and higher requirements like TPM 2.0 which is not available on old machines
  • The cost of upgrading to a newer laptop or computer that supports Windows 11 fully is still high for some.

Regardless of the reasons, Microsoft is ready to pull the plug given how quietly they have released this news. It could become a shock to some but better to be prepared. So, the question is, are you willing to upgrade to Windows 11 or plan to stick to 10? Let us know in the comments section.
