Earlier in the month, the mobile phone manufacturer iTel released its new device the P36 that came in two versions: Lite and Pro to add onto their lineup of powerful flagship smartphones. We were able to get our hands-on with the P36 Lite and spent a week testing it out to see whether it ranks up against the best in the market.
Before unboxing the iTel P36, you can clearly see that the smartphone manufacture made some significant changes to their flagship lineup this time around. The P36 runs on Android 9 Pie Go Edition.
If you’re looking for an affordable smartphone offering good technology and above all an awesome camera, the iTel P36 is the device that you are looking for, and here is why we think you should consider getting one
Why the iTel P36 stacks up as a good smartphone for today’s market
The P36 comes with an awesome battery life
The iTel P36 that comes in two versions of Lite and Pro, packs – an amazing 5000mAh battery meaning that if you are not actually using the phone for gaming, streaming of stuff and the like, then it can last up to 3 days long.
However, knowing many of you who love to be on battery galloping Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, and mostly YouTube, among others, this battery will comfortably give you a full day. Which ideally means that this is the phone for you.
The battery also comes with two amazing features which include; smart power-saving and standard ultra-power-saving modes. The Smart power-saving mode allows users to connect to the internet, use Bluetooth, stream, be on social media while ensuring that you are not losing a lot of battery in the background.
However, the Ultra Power-saving mode only limits the users to calls, texts, and use of the calendar. So, if you are out with friends and suddenly you realize that your battery is at say 15% or 20%, this would be the ideal mode so that you have enough battery for morning or to ensure that you can call that ride back home for when you are hanging out.
The camera specs
The iTel P36 boasts an 8MP dual rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera. All the photos that this camera produced were fairly clean. They weren’t as high quality as one would expect from the Tecno Camon series, but for an 8MP lens, it was decent.
However, shooting outdoors with the flashlight on made the photos a little too bright. The device produced a better Bokeh effect when shooting in portrait mode with the regular AI selfie camera —as opposed to the rear camera.
The other fascinating stuff about the iTel P36
1. Exercise tracker
As is the new norm, many if not all have joined the bandwagon of exercising and working out. The P36 gives users a feature that helps track how much they have been able to work out and including the kilometers they have walked so on.
2. Better parental control features
Parents who are constantly worried about their children accessing apps and platforms that would be deemed rated 18 can now be happy with a new feature that lets parents ensure that they limit access to platforms or apps.
3. Digital wellbeing feature added
Interestingly, the P36 also comes with an amazing digital wellbeing feature that cuts off the rest of other applications to allow you to focus on what exactly you are working on without other apps making pop-ups in the notifications. Say you are writing and the like.
4. Good screen for streaming content
For movie and video watching lovers, the device comes with an amazing 6.5 HD+ Waterdrop screen with 1600*720 resolution and 283 Pixel density which ideally means that you can get to watch your content in great quality.
What are some of the downsides to the iTel P36?
The major issue that comes with the phone is the bloatware but this can be done by deleting some of those apps and continuing with business as usual.
The phone doesn’t come with 4G connectivity for internet users which means that if you are in a place with a poor network, you might find yourself struggling. There is also the limited storage issue, as the Lite comes with only 16GB of ROM and 1GB RAM unlike the Pro with has at least 32GB and 2GB RAM.
What are the great sides of the phone?
The iTel P36 is an absolutely amazing phone which comes at a very affordable price of UGX 310,000 (Lite) and UGX 420,000 (Pro) respectively So, we highly recommend it if you are looking for a phone that is good and affordable.
It has a long-lasting 5000mAh battery that comes in handy for someone who does a lot of work, travels a lot, and wants to always remain connected, then this is the device for you.
Apart from that, the phone runs the Android Pie (Go Edition) OS out of the box and comes with the standard fingerprint and face unlock feature. When you look at the spec sheet under the hood, it has a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU coupled with an ARM Mali T820 MP1 GPU that is able to handle most tasks and probably a bit of gaming though it’s not as good as the Qualcomm chips.
