Zachary Ross and The Divine (Ex-Man Overboard) have resurrected the immersive alt-rock experience fans have been missing with their latest debut EP ‘Rebuilding Heaven’. The EP gives off a nostalgic rock pop-punk vibe, making it a fun listening experience.
The Rebuilding Heaven EP is beautifully produced and brings together all the aspects of rock, punk, pop and not forgetting drums and guitar shreds that remind us of what it feels like to let go on the weekends and just have fun. The EP shows a new side of Zac’s musical repertoire with influences spanning from Tegan and Sara to The Killers.
Despite venturing into a new sound, Zachary Ross and The Divine haven’t left behind their lyrical storytelling that earned Ross a crown as scene royalty. With a total of five tracks, the EP delivers a powerful sound many have heard before and grown to love.
Tracks like ‘Angels Don’t Kill’, Weapon’, ‘Push Start (Everyone Knows)’, and ‘A Light Over Massachusetts,’ are quick reminders of what happens when industry veterans join hands to produce something remarkably sweet while remaining true to its core.
Being Zachary Ross’s first solo project since his days as the frontman in the beloved pop-punk band Man Overboard, the new EP masterfully showcases the band’s distinct ability to create nostalgia-inspired modern rock music while delivering heartfelt infectious lyrics that are catchy and memorable at the same time.
You may recall Zachary Ross from one of the most pivotal pop-punk bands of the 2010s – Man Overboard. His musical talents landed him on the main stage of the Vans Warped Tour, on the top 20 Billboard rock charts, and on worldwide tours with sold-out crowds on multiple continents.
When the band came to an end, Zac tended to his family life and struggled with mental illness of his own. After a few years under the radar, he felt it was time to make new music under his own name in the summer of 2021. His agent Matt Pike encouraged him to take the plunge by reminding him that if he puts great music out, the world will probably listen, or at least some people. With that fire lit, Zac headed to Hollywood to make a record and a new band of his own.
Zachary Ross and The Divine (Ex-Man Overboard) have resurrected the immersive alt-rock experience
Despite Man Overboard reunion plans in the future, Zachary Ross and The Divine is his latest full-time effort and main outlet as a songwriter. The new tracks explore the stories of his life including love, loss, growth, and change.
The familiar and beloved characteristics of Zac’s previous musical endeavours are present and seamlessly blend with his new perspective and approach as a solo artist. His first EP under the moniker released under Smartpunk Records signals a great return for the artist.
When asked what he felt about finally dropping a new EP under his new solo project and a few years away from the scene, this is what Ross had to say:
“I have been at home for over four years without a musical outlet. I needed to be here for my family but also Man Overboard for the life of us could not get on the same page schedule-wise the past couple of years. This culminated in my starting my own band. This isn’t a side project, this isn’t a little creative endeavour. This is my band now. This is the main band. This is the main project. The show must go on.” – Zac Eisenstein
