Seeing a band like Gentlemen’s Crow grow into something huge and amazing is a wonderful feat in itself, which is why we were happy when news broke that the Florida based alternative rock band had dropped its new LP album Apparitions.
Having 9 beautifully crafted tracks, Apparitions delivers what one would call an eclectic mix of psych, alternative, post-punk, and indie sounds pounded together for pure enjoyment and for those that love to feel like they’re at a sunny beach stuck in a never-ending loop of joy.
To some, Gentlemen’s Crow feels like a blend of Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths, Queens of the Stone Age and The Cure merged together to create a unique and bubbling sound of pure bliss. With their latest LP, Apparitions, the band seems to have outdone themselves and has managed to capture the hearts of many.
When you listen to tracks like Comical, Driving Away and Did I Get the Picture, you find yourself drifting off to somewhere else hoping that weekend and the sunny warm breeze never end. The LP definitely has that effect about it and, it feels just right.
Hailing from Saint Augustine, Florida. In the heat of the south-east, Gentlemen’s Crow has spent time conjuring their unique blend of rock, indie, alternative, psych, and metal. The band spawned into existence two years ago and spent their infant years developing their live performance and cutting teeth in venues across Florida.
The band’s live performance act and experience can be felt in tracks like Howlin, which embodies a shout, jump and scream till your lungs pop-out type of vibe. One can hear the guitar sounds and drums wrestle each other to offer a wild teenage experience.
Gentlemen’s Crow Debut LP, Apparitions Feels Like an Unapologetic Mix of Retro and Modern Rock
Cameron James (Vocalist) and Alex Sandlin (Lead Guitarist) of Gentlemen’s Crow had this to say about their LP, Apparitions:
“This LP is our first full and complete work. The songs held within are unapologetically a mix of all the things that each of us (Cam, Alex, Jacob, and Zack) love about retro and modern rock. There are tinges of 80’s pop-rock, 90’s grunge, 00’s palm desert/indie, and modern post/alternative.
We spent two years preparing this for the world, and it’s our passion project album. I think when you play through from start to finish you go on this sonic adventure that has so many peaks and valleys, and I don’t think that you’re able to have expectations of what comes next in the tracklist.
Our recording engineer (Brok Mende, Friends of Friends Recording) said ‘It tricks the listener through and through.’ I found this to be the perfect description for this LP. The loose concept for Apparitions comes from the backstory of its collection of songs. They all deal with haunting matters of the past (Romance, Ego, Coming of Age, Rebirth, Adulthood, Depression, and Anxiety). If you need to scream, laugh, cry, feel nostalgic, face your pain/fear, it can all be found within our debut LP.”
The Apparitions LP is a good sign of many things to come, as we are seeing a band grow into something spectacular with their blend of rock, indie, alternative and metal. The LP has a total of 9 tracks as listed below;
