How to Get Your Kids Outside During Spring

Spring is making a hasty arrival, and with that, blooms of flowers and excitement are popping up all around us. You’d think that this would make kids want to head outside and feel the warm sun on their faces. However, sometimes coaxing our children outdoors can feel more like trying to wake a hibernating bear. But it’s not impossible, and it’s much easier than you’d think. Find out how to get your kids active and outside during the spring.

Make It Social

Your kids might groan out of boredom at the thought of heading outside for some active fun. That’s why you might consider incentivizing them by encouraging them to invite their friends along. When kids have a friend with them, they’ll have more fun, no matter what they do. Moreover, if they see that their friend is having a good time, they’ll feel more open to joining in rather than begrudgingly agreeing.

Make It Creative

Your kids might want to flex their creative side more than their active side. Don’t worry, as you can still coax them outside by including a creative task that doubles as a physical activity. For example, consider doing an exciting pool noodle activity, like making a pool noodle rocket that they can launch and chase.

It’s easy to make this craft, as all the kids need is a pool noodle, foam paper, and a glue gun. Cut your pool noodle about 12 inches long. Then, cut the foam paper into triangles and glue them onto your cut foam noodles.

Make It Educational

One of the best ways to get your kids outside during the spring is to make the great outdoors an educational opportunity. When it comes down to it, kids are a lot more curious and interested to learn something new than we might otherwise think. They want to know more about the natural world around us, its history, and how it works. That’s why you might consider heading outside for an educational hike where you teach the kids all about the world around them.
