How to Run a Successful Ticket Booth at High School Events

High school events can be chaotic and full of people everywhere. If you’re in charge of running a ticket booth at high school events, here’s some helpful information that will make it successful.

Location

Parents, students, and family friends all come to the high school for an important school event. They probably have their money ready to purchase tickets, but they may get frustrated if they can’t find the ticket booth. To avoid this, place the ticket booth at the front entrance of the event.

If it rests off to the side where people can’t see, they might enter without tickets or leave the event entirely. A clear, obvious location is the best way for guests to find the ticket booth.

Single-File Line

A cluster of people in line to purchase tickets only confuses other guests. If needed, use a retractable belt barrier to create a single-file line and alert people to the event. You can also attach a small sign to the belt barrier that reads “Line Starts Here” or “Ticket Sales,” so everyone knows they are in the right place.

Stay Comfortable

There are proper ways to maintain your booth to keep your space clear and comfortable. Since ticket booths are small spaces, remove the clutter, so the space feels more open. Hang up coats, put away personal items, and keep the money box, tickets, and other important items by the ticket window. When you have an organized workspace, you can work more efficiently.

Capacity

Before the ticket window opens, be sure you know the capacity limit for the high school event. For many sporting events, there is no seating limit. But when it comes to performances like dance recitals and plays in an auditorium, there will be a specific number of tickets you can sell. As you give out tickets, track how many you have sold and stop selling when that number reaches the number of seats available.

Now you know four tips for running a successful ticket booth at a high school event! With these in mind, your ticket-selling process is sure to go smoothly.
