Infinix Unveils Its First Ever Tablet the Infinix Xpad with an AI-powered Assistant

Having a stylish and premium design, Infinix has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of the Infinix Xpad, making it the company’s first debut on the tablet market. The company is putting lots of effort into making a name in the smartphone market and now it’s time to venture elsewhere too.

The Infinix Xpad makes its entry as a mid-range tablet offering an all-around solid experience at an affordable price compared to other offerings from competitors like Lenovo, Xiaomi, Realme and Samsung which have also steadily kept the pace in tablet wars in the last five years.

The Infinix Xpad isn’t just about being an affordable tablet but has a unique, sophisticated and aesthetic design to it embracing a sturdy metal unibody construction, which compliments its durability and premium feel which can’t be said for some manufacturers who cut costs by offering expensive tablets with low cost plastic builds.

The Xpad, which is available in three colours: blue, black, and gold looks and feels modern due to its slim bezels around the display, enhancing its modern appeal and maximizing screen space. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the tablet’s specifications and other features:

Infinix Xpad design, specifications and features

Aside from its sophisticated and aesthetic metal unibody design, the Infinix Xpad has an 11-inch 1080×2400 LCD touchscreen with a 90 Hz refresh rate and the MediaTek Helio G99 Ultimate chipset under the hood, which ensures smooth scrolling and an enhanced viewing experience, ideal for multimedia consumption.

The screen’s 440-nit brightness and an 83% screen-to-body ratio also contribute to an immersive viewing experience. When it comes to the camera, it is equipped with an 8MP front-facing camera and an 8MP rear camera, sufficient for basic photography and video calls. However, here’s the kicker that might deter some from buying it despite how the company decides to price it.

The Infinix Xpad will be available in three colours blue, black, and gold.

With a MediaTek Helio G99 Ultimate chipset onboard, which is a solid mid-range processor with a 2.2 GHz octa-core CPU. The tablet comes in two versions: one with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and another with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Given that this is 2024, and since the tablet is running Andriod 14 to boot with Infinix’s XOS skin on top 4GB RAM isn’t a great option given the growing demands for Andriod OS.

To add some insult, the Infinix Xpad will be Wi-Fi-only, with no mobile data connectivity included meaning you won’t be able to use SIM cards in case you prefer or you are a daily user of mobile data, which is frankly a letdown.

Nonetheless, a few positives can be picked out of the Xpad and that’s not only the design but also the 7,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging it comes with, which is decent for a mid-range tablet to say but the least though not so great either.

With XOS based on Andriod 14 out of the box, the Xpad comes enhanced with Infinix’s proprietary features, including the AI-powered assistant Folax, driven by ChatGPT. This assistant can help users manage tasks, plan routes, and even suggest attractions, adding a layer of convenience to the user experience. The company also promised to offer at least 2 OS updates and 3 years of security updates.

To cut it short, the main selling point behind the Infinix Xpad will be its price and whether that holds true in the coming weeks once the pricing is confirmed, it will either propel it to success or failure given that the competition has way better offers on the market right now.

The release date for the Xpad is not yet confirmed but with the leaks dropping left and right, more information might be revealed later. The Infinix Xpad marks a notable entry in the mid-range tablet market and is targeted at those looking for a budget-friendly tablet.
