Elon Musk’s company “The Boring Company” sold out all its 20,000 flamethrowers in pre-orders on Thursday according to his tweet. That is just five days!
The entrepreneur is also the owner and CEO of electric car manufacturing company, Tesla and aerospace engineering company, SpaceX. Elon Musk is never short of fascinating ideas, he came up with the idea of selling flamethrowers when said that if “The Boring Company” sold 50,000 hats, the company would start selling flamethrowers.
Strangely, the hats sold out and he kept his word by making a post on Instagram with a flamethrower by the company saying that the flamethrower was a super terrible idea and you shouldn’t by one unless you like fun.
Elon Musk announced on Sunday that the flamethrowers were available for pre-order at $500 with an overpriced complimentary cool stickered fire extinguisher at $30. That means the company has made more than $10 million in five days, that is if it manages to ship the devices.

A Californian politician, Miguel Santiago and several other people are not pleased with the idea of selling flamethrowers to the masses and Miguel plans to get a state legislation that blocks their sale.
It is interesting to see that Elon Musk can turn unconventional ideas into money, who knows, maybe they also sold out because he is popular. Too bad no one pre-ordered one from Uganda, would have been great to experiment with its potential outside a movie and game.
