It has been quite a while, but The Higher band has finally made a comeback to the Pop-rock scene with their pop-infused and edgy rock vibes, dropping their new EP “Elvis in Wonderland” which brings back a lot of those early pre-2000 memories.
The five-track EP, which has some of their recent hits like, ‘Free Ride‘, ‘Are We High’, and ‘Elvis in Wonderland’ surely gets you riding on memory lane of what made pop-rock such a fan genre to listen to and The Higher have definitely used their past experience and diverse sound to bring to life something worth listening to.
The four-piece band uses emotional lyrics, rad power guitar riffs, and catchy melodies to offer listeners something a bit fresh and yet so familiar, which makes Elvis in Wonderland are wonderful short EP that dives right into a multitude of feelings and emotions at the same time.
Looking at the band’s recent releases like Free Ride, it’s clear proof that The Higher is definitely back on the scene – making it one of the best comebacks singles this year given how the track tackles a complex story about disingenuous intentions in love and breaking out of its stronghold.
The same can be said for the EP, as The Higher perfectly blends thoughtful lyrical content to give fans what they have been longing for a while now, an emotional and yet fun pop-rock experience. With Elvis in Wonderland being their first release since 2009, the band has slowly made its way back into the fold.
Coupled with the Elvis in Wonderland EP announcement, The Higher is also celebrating the 15th anniversary of their famed sophomore album On Fire with first time-only double-LP vinyl pressings via Take This To Heart Records.
Limited to 1000 copies in total, the On Fire vinyl record will be available in two different variants – a vivid neon pink and a tri-colour swirl of pink, black and blue. Pre-order this exclusive vinyl here, alongside the band’s new vinyl pre-order for Elvis in Wonderland.
We reached out to the band and asked them a few questions about their return to the scene and here’s what they had to say.
1. As an EP, Elvis in Wonderland does truly bring out the band’s strongest features and shows how far you have evolved as a team. Is this like a war cry telling everyone you’re back?
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!!! This IS our war cry!!!
2. Given the band’s earlier short absence from the music scene, what are some of the challenges you faced and how did you overcome them?
Finding the time and place is a bit harder now that Reggie is living in Seattle, George is in Nashville, Tom is in LA, and Jay is in New York City and I’m still in Las Vegas. Figuring out how to collaborate in the writing process needed COVID to happen for this to happen, but life has changed for all of us, so time has allowed us to be as involved as we all want to be now.
3. Listening to songs like Introverted Hurricane, Are We High, and Free Ride, your band has proven it has a creative way of telling stories and coming up with lyrical content. Is this something you do as a group, or someone takes that role up?
Complete collaboration musically and lyrically! All those songs have 3 or more people contributing lyrically.
4. With the world recovering from a pandemic, how did it affect the band these last few years?
For us it gave us the free time to revamp The Higher and record demos.
5. Should the fans expect another album soon or there are several projects on the way?
We definitely wrote enough new material to have more new music out again next year. Looking to record more early next year!
6. Are there any artists the band would love to collaborate with in the upcoming years?
Of course!!! We would love to reconnect with friends in other bands who we’ve never had the chance to collaborate with. Our dream collaborations would be with Hayley from Paramore, Brendan from Panic! at the Disco, Bert from The Used or Anthony Green from Circa Survive/Saosin. Or blackbear haha that’s my wishful thinking.
7. What is the one message the band would like to give to its fans?
It’s so good to be back!!! Thank you for all the undying support from our friends and family in making this happen!!! Please download our new EP, Elvis In Wonderland and come see us play on our west coast and east coast tour this November. We hope to see everyone soon!!! Thank you!
The Higher Return to Pop-rock Scene with New EP ‘Elvis in Wonderland’

The Higher rode the wave of pop-rock stardom in the early 2000’s after sharing the stage with emo greats including Panic! At The Disco, Taking Back Sunday, Motion City Soundtrack, Silverstein, and more. Their unique brand of rock fused with a hint of groove landed their fan-favorite On Fire LP a #9 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers Charts, on heavy rotation on multiple MTV channels, and on the radar of top tastemakers including SPIN, Kerrang!, Fuse, and more.
Now the Epitaph Records alumni are taking everything they know from the major stages of their early days to shine brighter than ever for their 2022 comeback giving their fans an EP, making it their first release since 2009 which was released via Secret Friends Music Group.
The tracks on the EP encompass their rejuvenated sound and fresh era fusing elements of dance-pop, emo, and R&B with a pop-punk edge. With Seth Trotter on vocals, Reggie Ragan on guitar and vocals, and George Lind rounding out the lineup on drums, The Higher is prepared to soar once again.
