Popular Video Game Fortnite Goes Down

One of the world’s most popular online multiplayer video games, Fortnite has been a talk of the town ever since its servers went down hours ago. Players around the world were surprised when they weren’t able to play their favorite game at all.

This has created a storm of excitement and at the same time panic for gamers when they weren’t able to load into the game due to ongoing server maintenance. This has for sure been one of the most thrilling instances in history where a game’s down time leads to a major riot with players asking what happened to their favorite online game.

It’s been more than a day now and the servers for the popular battle royale game Fortnite have been totally shut down. Players can load into the game but can’t do anything but watch a black hole slowly swirl on their screens.

In the meantime, while the black hole keeps swirling all players can do right now is play a bit of a Space Invaders clone to pass time if you input the Konami code.

Fortnite is an online video game developed by Epic Games and released in 2017. It is available in three distinct game mode versions that otherwise share the same general gameplay and game engine:

Fortnite: Save the World, a cooperative shooter-survival game for up to four players to fight off zombie-like creatures and defend objects with fortifications they can build; Fortnite Battle Royale, a free-to-play battle royale game where up to 100 players fight to be the last person standing; and Fortnite Creative, where players are given complete freedom to create worlds and battle arenas.

Save the World is available only for Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, while Battle Royale released for those platforms, in addition for Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android devices.

How long has Fortnite been down?

So far, Fortnite has been down for over 29 hours and it doesn’t seem like it will be going live again for a while. Meanwhile players are losing their heads hoping the issue gets resolved soon.

In a mean time, there is an advertisement in China stating that the new season will start on October 15 which may mean that some time tomorrow morning the game could be back online. A battle pass trailer has already leaked but we can’t be sure until all is sorted out.

Epic Games has continued to remain silent about the entire event but we don’t think the company is willing to let this go any longer or else it could lead to a buildup in frustration for the players and can have negative effects on its reputation.

There are also unconfirmed reports about Fortnite: Save the World being up for grabs as free to play but it’s not a sealed deal yet and we can’t assume anything at this time.

Let’s wait and see what the night brings, hopefully by then the game will back and players will be more than excited to get back into the fight.
