Hello World, Meet the New Android BlackBerry
Blackberry painfully finally abandoned their in-house mobile Operating Systems – BBOS and BB10. However, they haven’t abandoned the smartphone business despite tight competition from Android and iOS.
“If you can’t beat them, join them,” riding on this moto, Blackberry eventually joined the Android team.
Unveiled at the recently concluded CES tech invent, Blackberry showed the World a glimpse of their next Android smartphone.
Blackberry’s New Strategy
Blackberry recently changed direction. Abandoning building their own devices in-house and outsourcing the design to TCL. It will now be concentrating on security software, autonomous vehicle software and other software for enterprises.
Their new device which was unveiled under air-tight secrecy of its actual name is still rumored to be called Mercury.
Its specifications, release date and other relevant details still remain undisclosed. Even when a couple of tech bloggers were given the device, they were strictly told to avoid giving off such details.
Blackberry Returns to its roots
The new device boasts of a very beautiful Blackberry’s legendary physical keyboard. This time the team at TCL actually managed to make a keyboard that users will love after the one on the Priv was quite a letdown.
The physical board boasts of a thumb print reader on the space bar with the keys even bigger and more practical. Rumors are still flying high with the latest specifications said to be on-board this new device. It will officially be revealed in a few weeks, for now, we wait.
Below are more images of the new device in all its glory.
