TAXES IN THE COUNTRY.
Now the country has been planning on increasing the taxes on fuel and airtime and that left people not just furious but also asking themselves what exactly the government is trying to achieve by increasing the taxes.
Now we are going to try and look at it from two perspectives and to begin with, we shall start withe the government. The government has been trying so hard to raise money from the public and why they are doing all this we could not really know. However, some people claim that it is an attempt to gain income to pay back the loans and also the aid and that would sound rational however, why don’t they get the money from the people who used it because that money did not just disappear. Could the government be slowly trying to get rid of the imports coming into the country.
The citizens are frustrated by this information, this is because they are just getting used to the new taxes and with the current unemployment rate reaching the heights that are imaginable they think that the government would be more considerate. Let us look at it this way, the infrastructure in the country is poor and the only things that were inviting the investors were communication and fuel. This however, has been reduced because Uganda already has the most expensive electricity in the region, most expensive transport sector in the region, and communication is expensive now this is going to chase the investors away and make unemployment increase by another percentage and if it is passed then we could be seeing another inflation rock the country just after trying to recover from the previous one.
