The Turkish prime minister says the government remains in charge; as military jets and helicopters are seen flying low over Ankara and tanks reported in the streets; two major bridges in Istanbul are closed to traffic.

Despite numerous reports coming, the President Tayyip Erdogansays coup will be put down eventually since the military took over on Friday.
Turkey being one of the U.S allies, if this coup is successful it will affect the balance of power with in the region & cause a big shift across the Middle East.
President Erdogan has ruled Turkey since 2003 and has had a grip on power since then until this current event which has unfolded in the state.
“We will overcome this,” Erdogan said, speaking by mobile phone to the Turkish sister station of CNN.
He called on his followers to take to the streets to defend his government and said the coup plotters would pay a heavy price.
Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said the elected government remained in office. However, it appeared that those behind the coup had the upper hand initially.
The effects of the taker over
Aiports have been shut and access to Internet social media sites was cut off. Troops have sealed off the two bridges over the Bosphorus in Istanbul.
Earlier, gunshots were heard in the Turkish capital, a Reuters witness said, as military jets and helicopters were seen flying overhead.
