In the country, many women have been murdered and of recent we have seen a very high rise of numbers of sexual assaults since many of the women in society got the courage to talk about what has been happening to them and demanding justice.
Today morning, the country woke up to more sad news as a young lady was found dead outside Livingstone hall of Makerere University in Wandegeya.
The young lady whose identity is yet to be brought to public knowledge was found by a passerby who called Mr. Moses Sekatebe the LC1 chairman of Makubira zone where she was found. The Chairman alerted the Police who came and took the John Doe to Mulago hospital mortuary for postmortem.
The young lady was found dead, lying naked with a kaveera that contained chips and juice. These items are thought to have belonged to her. It is believed she was on her way back home after purchasing the items when the murderers intercepted her.
Mr Enoch Abeine the head of security at Makerere University said that he could not ascertain if the young lady who looked to be between 20-26 years of age was a student of Makerere university because the police did not find any form of identification on the John Doe.
The Vice Chancellor of Makerere University Prof Barnabas Nawangwe said that he had received the news but was still waiting for his guild to confirm if she was a student of the university.
The spokesperson of Kampala Police Luke Oweyesigyire stated that the case has been opened and two have been arrested so far in regards to the matter and these are Anthony Wagawuli and Umaru Shaban. The two were caught sleeping just near the crime scene. It is believed that the two will also help in the investigations.
The crime rate in the city has been on the rise and this young lady just happens to be one of the many whose lives have been lost.
