Leeds Looking to Come Back Into the Premier League As They Take On Newcastle Today
For both Newcastle and Leeds United, coming back into the Barclays English Premier League means giving that they have. Leeds United on the other hand, have never been in such a better place to force their way back into the Premier league.
Newcastle come into this game needing all three points to go past table leaders Brighton and Hove Albion. Newcastle sit just two points behind table leaders will be hoping that they get a great result at Elland Road.
Leeds United have former Swansea city tactician Gary Monk to thank for their rejuvenation. For a club that has been falling from one lower league to another, he has achieved what many could not have imagined doing but he is doing it and the players are relishing every moment with him.
Gary Monk is the seventh manager at Leeds United but only he has shown signs of progress and the fans now come back into the stadium in numbers and cheering for their team all the way.
When they host Newcastle United today, it will be a case of two clubs that have rich histories but slowly succumbed to football pressures. Leeds one of the most successful clubs in European football will be hoping to return to EPl for the first time since they got relegated in 2004.
Gary Monk will be hoping that his and championship top scorer Chris Wood will lead the team to a much needed win when the two teams face off today evening.
Chris Wood is said to be highest paid player at Elland Road, earning 15000 pounds a week, a wage that is very dwarfed by the likes of Newcastle.
Leeds are struggling financially to the extent that even Elland Road is no longer belonging to them and this is what their manager had to say “It’s not easy here,’ Monk told BBC Radio Leeds this week. ‘The expectations were on us from the start. They want to be proud of the team and to be able to focus on the team again. That has been missing for a while. So there is pressure but I enjoy that”
Monk will be hoping that they win to continue with giving the fans hope and to close the gap on the championship playoffs to try and force their way back into the EPL
