Athletico Madrid Get The Better of Leicester City In Thrilling Tie
Athletico Madrid entertained Leicester City at the Vicente Calderon and what a game this was for the watchers.
With just one goal scored in the entire 90 minutes it is easy to dismiss the game as having lacked in what it gave but this such a good game.
Athletico Madrid will be Hoping that Leicester City does not punish them for their Failure to punish them Yesterday.
For Leicester city they came out with heads raised high knowing that they have not conceded as many goals away and will be hoping that they can turn things around when they host the Madrid side next Tuesday.
It was the hotline bling maestro Antoine Griezman who separated the two sides after he converted a penalty after he was brought down. The penalty though had some controversy as it seemed like he was brought down from the edge of the box.
Mahrez, Vardy and Albrighton tried to create some chances that to force a draw but Athletico were tactfully better than they were.
For Athletico, they will have themselves to blame for not scoring more goals and taking advantage of playing from home. They were blocked by a very well disciplined defense and they failed to create those chances that should have forced Leicester to make mistakes.
Leicester City will however be very happy with their result in the Spanish capital. Shakespeare will now be hoping to make a strong case in England to score 2 or more goals.
For Foxes, getting knocked out now is still considered success but to win the match and force a semifinal probably against Real will be a huge milestone for them. The Foxes have this tournament as a way to win a trophy.
Come next week, the honors will be on both teams to go all out to attack and try to get into the Champions League Semifinal.
Diego Simeoni and Shakespeare have a lot of work ahead of them this week and should really work hard to get results come next week.
