As of today, the death toll in China has reached over 172 deaths due to the coronavirus that has taken China by storm. Medics are working every hour to find a cure but so far, the death toll keeps on increasing.
With the number of cases reaching nearly 6,000 – more than during the SARS epidemic of 2002-03 – as Japan and the United States began evacuating hundreds of citizens from Wuhan, the city at the centre of the outbreak.
All of those new deaths were in Hubei except for one, which was in a province just to the north. Wuhan is the capital of Hubei.
More than 56 million people in almost 20 Chinese cities, including Wuhan, have been prevented from travelling in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus during the Lunar New Year or spring festival, traditionally China’s busiest travel season.
The director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, met China’s President Xi Jinping on Tuesday.

A plane evacuating more than 200 Americans from a Chinese city at the center of a virus outbreak continued on to southern California after everyone aboard passed a health screening test in Anchorage, where the aircraft had stopped to refuel.
The US government chartered the plane to fly out diplomats from its consulate in Wuhan.
Australia is also planning on evacuating it’s citizens from China as measures to protect their citizens continues amid fears that they could as well get infected. The people will however be taken to a refugee site which has been said to be in horrible living conditions and so many questions are being raised about how Australia will handle it’s citizens when in the refugee camp.
Already, the country has reported over 7 cases of Coronavirus in mainlands and is looking for ways in which they can contain the spread of it. The country plans on quarantining the infected and those that have been evacuated from China at an Island called Christmas which is about 1,200 miles from the mainland.
Australia has also been able to recreate the Coronavirus and now plans to share it with the CDC so that they can come up with means on how best to come up with a vaccine for treating people.
In Africa, reports are circulating that world’s richest man Bill Gates has set aside a grant that will be used to manage the corona virus should it be able to reach Africa.
