Breaking: Explosions at Brussels Airport & Metro
Two explosions have been heard at Brussels airport at around 8 o’clock in the morning and smoke can be seen rising from one of the buildings from a far and glass everywhere. Our reporters say that one of the explosions was at the departure lounge.
All flights to and from the airport have been suspended and the airport building is being evacuated. @BrusselsAirport has tweeted, “Don’t come to the airport area”
According to AFP officials say that another explosion has gone off at Maelbeek metro station close to EU headquarters in the city. All metro stations have been closed and the entire city terror level has been raised to maximum.
Belga News Agency has confirmed one dead and several people injured, the officials are not yet sure what was the cause of the explosions. It is believed that the death toll could be as much as 10 people.
There is speculation that these could be revenge attacks for the arrest of the Paris bombing suspects recently in Belgium. There are several military and security personnel around the city.
