Nicotine is a component of tobacco, and this stimulant will increase the levels of dopamine and adrenaline in the bloodstream. Since dopamine is the “happy hormone,” tobacco creates a temporary oasis of happiness and serenity. For that reason, people easily get hooked on smoking, because they want to relive the positive sensations over and over again.

Recent stats show that one in every five adults on the planet uses tobacco. To be precise, it’s estimated that more than 10 million cigarettes are sold worldwide – every minute! Judging by this data, it is clear to see that smoking has something to offer to all these people.
Well, some of the pros of smoking are stress relief and calmness. Tobacco can even help with anxiety and anger. Of course, it is crucial to keep it on the minimum and avoid becoming a regular smoker.
And that’s it – we are having a hard time remembering any other benefits of smoking. Social interaction and a sense of togetherness may belong to this list as well. On the other hand, the negative aspects of tobacco usage are abundant and backed by research.
Cons of Smoking
Smoking comes with a set of harmful side-effects. For example, one of the most obvious ones is the increased chance of lung cancer. Smoking causes more than 480.000 deaths in the US alone per year, and lung cancer is the most common health problem caused by smoking.
However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Tobacco use also leads to higher odds of clot formation and heart attack. Likewise, smoking will narrow down your arteries, reducing the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream. As a result, smokers often have higher blood pressure and increased heart rate.
On top of that, smoking can trigger type 2 diabetes, as well as a brain aneurysm. Last but not least, sustained nicotine addiction can reduce your sperm count and cause infertility.
As you can see, tobacco does more harm than good. If you decide to change your life and start building a healthy body, you should quit smoking as soon as possible. Only by doing so will you get the chance to avoid some of these severe health conditions.
