With the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns still hanging over our heads in 2021, Netflix and Chill have become the new normal for most people. In 2021, Netflix has upcoming new shows, documentaries, and movies. Madame Claude is a must-watch for film buffs, a movie on an infamous madame from Paris, her call girls, and her clients.
If you are a series fan and loved Money Heist, you will enjoy Sky Rojo, an action-packed series. For documentary and docu-series, watch out for Into the Deep and SeaPiracy.
One should also note that as per current statistics, the top three streaming services in the US make up 65% of the market. Netflix remains the market leader over Prime Video by a 10% margin, and Disney+ is in close contention with Hulu for third place.
In March, Disney+ overtook Hulu to become the third-largest streaming service in the US. Peacock and Disney+ were the only streaming services to gain market share or remain the same through Q1, while all of the others decreased.
To get the most out of Netflix, here are five hacks you should try.
1. Use the Netflix secret codes
Netflix has a massive catalogue, and it is not possible to watch everything on it. This means you may end up missing all the good stuff. Using Netflix codes, you can easily access your favourite shows and movies. However, you need a list of the codes and this address.
Copy-paste the address on your browser and replace the XXXX with the code you want.
The codes are relevant with specific genres, from B-Horror movies to Romantic foreign movies. This feature only works on the Netflix website and is not available on Amazon Firestick, NOW TV boxes, or phones.
2. Watch geo-restricted content
If you find yourself in a situation where you want to watch something different on your Netflix, try using a Netflix VPN. A Virtual Private Network (VPN) allows you to log in anonymously via servers in locations all over the world.
For example, if you are located in Europe and want to watch content from the US, all you have to do is log into your VPN and choose one of many available server locations. Once you’ve done that, feel free to log into your Netflix account – now you will be able to see content from that server’s location you have connected to, not your home country location. It’s that easy! You can also use this trick to watch new releases before they are listed in your country’s catalogue.
A good note here is that VPN is not only useful to bypass geo-restricted content but is also very handy when it comes to cybersecurity. A VPN hides your IP address, meaning no one can tell your actual location. Also, it encrypts your connection, making it extremely hard for anyone to intercept it.
3. Use browser extensions
Some useful Chrome browser extensions can significantly enhance your watching experience. One such extension is IMDb Ratings on Netflix that is a simple extension that works as it is supposed to. It adds IMDb ratings for Netflix movies and shows in a pop-up on the right-hand thumbnail corner when you hover over the movie title.
This makes your movie choices much easier to make. There are numerous other Chrome extensions, but watch out for some that have not been updated in a long time.
4. Download Movies
Streaming requires you to have a high-quality and fast internet connection. Netflix made some changes, and since 2016, you can download specific shows and movies. This allows you the freedom to watch movies offline, even without the internet.
5. Let Netflix decide for you
Instead of stressing over what to watch, you can allow Netflix to decide for you via its Shuffle feature. Shuffle Play uses Netflix’s algorithm to play what it deems suits you best based on your previous watch history. This is much better than spending hours scrolling for something to watch.
Netflix can confuse anyone with its massive movies, series, documentaries, etc. There are new movies that join the catalogue every day, and without learning some hacks, you will miss out on many good shows. Using the secret codes and other hacks allows you to find the genres and shows you prefer.
